Why Families Choose Wright Psychology & Counseling for Their Child’s Evaluation

When your child is struggling, you want answers you can trust—and a team that truly understands how to help. At Wright Psychology & Counseling, we offer thoughtful, personalized neuropsychological and psycho-educational evaluations for children, teens, and college-age young adults. Here’s why families turn to us:

1. Expert Evaluations Backed by Experience and Innovation

With over 20 years of specialized experience in psychological and neuropsychological assessment, we pair our deep clinical expertise with best-in-class assessment tools and cutting-edge technology to deliver evaluations of the highest quality. We thoughtfully combine digital testing (like iPad-based measures) with play-based observations and traditional hands-on tools, all tailored to the child, teen, or young adult we’re working with. This balanced, individualized approach helps us gather the most accurate insights—so you can get the answers and guidance you need.

2. One Expert, Every Step of the Way
Your child will work directly with a licensed psychologist from start to finish—no testing technicians or students. This allows us to truly understand your child as a whole person, not just a set of test scores, which leads to more meaningful insights and recommendations.

3. More Than a Diagnosis—A Full Understanding
We go beyond simply “checking for a diagnosis.” Our goal is to understand your child’s strengths, challenges, and how their brain works so we can create a plan that actually helps them thrive—emotionally, academically, and socially. And if a diagnosis isn’t appropriate, we won’t give one. You can feel confident knowing that we only diagnose when it’s clinically justified.

4. Confidential and Compassionate Care—Without Insurance Limits
Because we work independently of insurance, we’re not required to submit a diagnosis just to get services covered. That means your child’s results stay private and confidential, and any diagnosis made is based solely on your child’s needs—not insurance red tape.

5. A Practice Built for Kids and Teens
This isn’t a one-size-fits-all clinic. Our entire approach is designed just for young people, with a calm, welcoming environment that helps children feel comfortable and supported from the moment they walk in.

Let’s figure this out together.
If you’re concerned about your child’s learning, development, or emotional wellbeing, we’re here to help. Reach out today to learn more or schedule a consultation—we’d be honored to be part of your child’s journey.

Step 1 - Parents-Only Consultation

We discuss the concerns you have for your child, take a detailed clinical history, determine the appropriate testing battery and explain the assessment process in detail.

Step 2 - Testing Sessions

Our comprehensive assessment typically consists of two appointments that last around 3 hours each. Sometimes a third session is needed depeding upon the child and assessment needed. The psychologist will let you know if this is necessary. Early Autism Evaluations are typically conducted in one session that lasts around 1-2 hours.

Step 3 - Feedback Session(s)

2-3 weeks after the assessment is completed,  we meet with parents to review results and discuss next steps based on the findings. Then, when appropriate, we schedule a separate meeting with the child/teen to talk about their assessment results in an age-appropriate and supportive manner. A written report summarizing the results of the assessment, as well as extensive recommendations for treatment at home and at school, is provided at this time as well. Our detailed reports provide the information required for obtaining Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 plans in both public and private schools.
