Elisa Wetzler, Psy.D.

Role at Wright Psychology and Counseling:

Licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in the evaluation of children, adolescents and college-aged young adults.

Past experience:

I joined Wright Psychology and Counseling in 2017. Prior to that, I practiced for 10 years completing child, adolescent, and young adult neuropsychological assessments at Edelson & Associates in Louisville, KY. My primary clinical interests include the evaluation of cognitive, learning, developmental, and emotional/behavioral disorders, such as Dyslexia, Math Disorders (Dyscalculia), Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism, and depression/anxiety.

I also enjoy working with children and adolescents who are Gifted/Talented as well those who are considered to be “Twice Exceptional” (children who are both gifted and learning disabled). I believe strongly in the importance of understanding each child’s, adolescent’s, and young adult’s strengths and areas of need, in order to provide customized recommendations and help each one reach his/her potential.

I received my  B.A. in Psychology in 1999 from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and then attended Spalding University where I received my M.A. in Clinical Psychology in 2002 and my Doctorate of Psychology (Psy.D.) in 2005.

While obtaining my doctoral degree, I worked for a neuropsychological practice completing assessments with primarily children and adolescents. I also worked as an Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapist for children diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum, a Wraparound Support Youth Counselor at Maryhurst Children’s House, and a therapist and evaluator of college students at Spalding University’s Counseling Center.  I also completed my residency at the Butler University Counseling and Consultation Center and Behavior Corp Community Health Consortium where I provided therapy, assessment, and crisis services to children, adolescents, and adults.

Favorite quote or mantra related to this line of work:

I have two:

“Promise me you’ll remember, you are BRAVER than you believe, STRONGER than you seem, and SMARTER than you think.”  A.A. Milne
